Are FT86 owners future Ferrari / Lambo owners?

It seems that people on this forum get it-- hp rating does not necessarily determine how fun a car is to drive.

A lot of people think "Why would you buy a Ferrari F430 with only X hp when for less money you could get a big German sedan with X+Y hp?"

Do people on this forum dream of a Ferrari or Lambo in their future as opposed to an AMG Merc, M BMW, or Corvette?

FRSNewb 07-28-2014 09:35 PM

no...I dreamt of driving an FR-S...dream achieved..end of story

I mean, I wouldn't mind a Mercedes SLS AMG, but I'm not going to pin my hopes on getting one. That exhaust note is sex though.

Ms are by far the most reasonably priced, balanced sports cars in the world; and Corvettes aren't exactly bound in function to horsepower, no less than Lambos at least.

If anything, Porsches and Audis would be more fair assumptions.

More likely that once that certain lady comes along the majority on here will be driving SUVs or family sedans and looking wistfully at the Lambos and Ferraris while they take their kids to soccer practice, dance classes or driving to and from 48 hour a week jobs to pay the bills.

Logical progressions:

Miata --> Elise
S2000 --> Exige
Twins --> Cayman
370z --> Vette
GTI --> M3
Camaro SS --> Z28
Mustang GT --> Boss 302 LS
Challenger SRT8 --> Hellcat

I hate Ferraris and Lambos. I dream of Corvettes. I got to drive a Ferrari F430, for a few laps around a track, and it broke down on me 3 times.

Have you looked at some of the FB pages of these owners? I bet most of them go from an 86 to a Yugo or old Civic.

Realistic and accurate.

Why buy a Ferrari when I can have more fun in a BRZ for a lot less money?

Not to be negative, but why didn't you buy a used Corvette?

NWFRS 07-29-2014 01:16 AM

I dream of finding a super clean Fiat Dino Spider. :-)

Or a 124 coupe.

Or a Lancia Fulvia.

Or a Delta Integrale.

They'd all be heaps more fun than a new Ferrari anyway. You can speed like a madman on public roads in old Italian cars and the cops just smile and wave. (Ask me how I know!)

I totally agree with you.

And for street driving the BRZ is actually probably MORE fun because you can drive it fairly hard without putting your license in jeopardy.

What I meant was "sometime in the future if I'm making half a million a year which car would I rather have?"
