AVO turbo kit - 401whp, 314ft/lbs of torque

First, lets just put this out here:

http://www.avoturboworld.com/media/a...VO_400_001.jpg

That was done today on the Drift Office dyno, in 90 degree weather. Naturally, this was with e85. To be factual, it was probably closer to e80 given that it's the summer blend. We will be getting some better e85 in for further testing.

The car is fitted with the standard AVO turbocharger kit. The standard airbox was used with an AVO high-flow panel filter. Exhaust has been upgraded to a full AVO 3" turbo back exhaust with a catted front pipe (5" cat). An AVO high-flow fuel pump was fitted, and 1000cc injectors to give the necessary fueling. An AVO organic clutch was fitted a while ago, and it held up to the 314ft/lbs of torque without issue.

Initial runs went well, but we found out immediately that we were traction limited. So the rear trunk was upgraded with a 200lb technician, which solved that issue nicely.

We actually expect to be able to run it out even further in the future when we have some better e85 available that is fresher.

good numbers!

Lol at the "technician" weight mod

Jesus this on a stock motor right?

What psi?

Do you foresee any future problems running this much power?

AVOturboworld 08-05-2014 07:55 PM

This was on a stock motor, which I believe is at the 36,000 mile mark - the majority of that mileage turbocharged. It was doing that power at 14.7 psi, or 1 bar of boost.

I do foresee major rear tire damage in it's future.

That's some serious power. What kind of cooling does this car have? Does it see any track time or is it just street driven?

Mike :

This was done on my car. No cooling mods as of yet, but I'm hankering to see what it does in this heat. I do have an oil cooler setup that we've put together that I'll be offering, don't think I need it as of yet.

Here are some more detailed specs...
  • 2013 FRS 6MT
  • AVO Stage 2 Kit
  • AVO 3 Inch Turbo Back Exhaust (Catted)
  • AVO Panel Filter (Stock Airbox)
  • AVO Stage 3 Clutch
  • Grams 1000cc Injectors
  • Denso Fuel Pump
  • Pump E85 Gas
  • 90 Degree Dyno Cell Environment
  • Boost : 14.7 PSI @ PEAK
This is our first stab with this fuel, so I will likely get to bump it up a tad more. Here's a better look at the logs for Run #20...

I wasn't too sure if a stock motor could run 14 almost 15psi for a long time. We may have different definitions of that though.

Well some people were purportedly running @ 16PSI on their setups, so I figured I'd go up to 1 bar first and see what happens. #Fingerscrossed! :)

I don't think I'll exceed this point given the boost that I'm running, but I'm confident it'll last since I've been running 11-12 PSI on 92 Pump gas for the last year...

Going with the logs, everything looks peachy, more so than even regular pump gas, but I'm am going to have to look into higher end fluids and cooling for 'preservation'...

Cheers!

Hey! Wait a minute! Bob I thought you were the anti-E85 guy!

Impressive numbers though.

My guys had to drive an hour each way in traffic to get 15 gallons. I am anti-E85 but like I posted on FB, when my customers are depending on me to get it done, I've got to figure a solution out for them yah? There's only 2 stations within a 70 mile radius that carry it, and @ $4.20+ a gallon!

That said, I might as well be the test monkey for this...

glad to see avo making big boy numbers. Torque curve looks good, especially for that turbo! and for the record im at 11,000 miles at 18ish psi. YIKES!

Dustin 08-05-2014 08:56 PM

Really impressive numbers. Good job guys.
