2013 Scion Fr-S on the March Issue of MotorTrend
Went on Scion.com just to check up on it and they included a link to the March issue of Motortrend featuring the 2013 Scion Fr-S and article about it.
Online Magazine available for viewing: http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/...bd#/b50b92bd/1 |
just saw that too about 30 min ago. Not much news there except they are guessing a $25k price.
|
Good find! I'm to tired to read tonight, but I gonna read it first thing tomorrow!
|
Read before. Worth the second read. BRZ or FR-S: you can't go wrong!!!!!!!
|
I already have this magazine. It is nothing new really.
|
Thanks for the read.
|
I think I bought that issue about a month ago. There's another article in there on the FRS/BRZ too. I think got a goofy title, something like the Miata's Brother from Another Mother.

I read this when it came out. I got free subscription from LA Auto Show.
Anyways, the next page after these is the BRZ. Entitled, "... Brother from Another Motha". Pretty sweet article. Mostly just about differences between BRZ/FRS and how the drive was around the track. The fact that he fell in love after 4 laps. I just wish there was an everyday news on the FR-Z :D |

There's yet another article in that issue called "The Miata Coupe*" * Not build by Mazda. http://blogs.motortrend.com/the-miat...zda-19869.html I think I was combining the two articles together in my head :) Brett |
That was a really good read. Good post.

Motor Trend estimates 0 to 60 in 6.2 secs...Yeah buddy!
|
Not a review or a test in anyway.. Just another paid ad. Very typical Motortrend. 25k is about 5k too much for the Scion..
I wonder why Toyota/Subaru will not let anyone do a full test?.... |

But seriously I'd like mine going 0-60 in as close to 4 flat as possible. |

The suspense. The drama. Must prolong. Quote:

start at post #132.... |
You guys say 25k is too much for a Scion.
So are you guys saying, if this car was branded as a Toyota with the exact same options, then it would be ok at 25k? |
Am I missing something here? Isn't this the same article that has been available online since December?

Not at all; my point is that 25k is too much for what it is; be it a Subaru, Toyota, Scion, or even a Lexus. |

I agree, the FR-S is stripped down. You don't really get much. Its not worth 25K. $22-23K yeah with the bespoke included. Look at all the other scions, they are not as stripped down as the FR-S. At least start it low and let us add options...but Scion is stuck on its monospec and pure pricing. That is what is really killing the brand. Hopefully the FR-S will keep Scion alive. |

the BRZ might be worth 25K bc it does come with HIDs and a nicer interior |
hopefully theyll update more info in the next few days

-Ipod Usb/Aux -Pioneer Headunit -Bluetooth (2012 Models Standard) -Cloth Seats Only thing the FRS doesn't have is steering wheel controls. Their cars are monospec, because they want to keep the price low, and allow for several dealer installed accessories/parts. |

And the outside "fake vent" is tacky. |

The subaru looks nice and tidy down the middle with the Digital climate control and push button start but the silver doesn't suit the car IMO. The Black / Carbon-esque trim on the scion looks more suiting (to me). |
Really? 25K is a stretch when you consider the car with the rest of the Scion product line but I don't understand this its not enough car for 25k considering the Integra Type R was priced very closely and that was years ago so if you included inflation into everything the FRS isn't too bad
|
but that was a TYPE R.
It was some what of a flagship ...of course the NSX was selling around the same time. You ask me today whether i want the FRS or Type R....i'll take the type r...JDM version of course (but i'll take any version just need to modify somethings to suit my liking) You can fit 15inch rims on that car! |
Yeah, GSR is a better comparison I think. Or civic SI.

0-60 in 0.2 sec would require 3000+ hp (and due to traction limitations, different forms of propulsion and steering, as well something to induce some series downforce). The driver might be able to withstand the resulting 13.7 Gs for 0.2 sec without much problem, though sustaining that acceleration for long would mean a loss of consciousness. |
Now that's a nerdpost, right there.
I approve.:respekt::happy0180: |
Why does every thread eventually devolve to the same off topic bickering?

the frs could reach $25k easily with the options that certain people want. Its for that reason I expect the base price to be $23k

Hey-ho, no one is forcing us to be on here, it's all good for a diversion while in front of the computer. |
Do you guys believe bespoke is standard?
Scion never has upscale headunit standard ..... |

The tC has sunroof...even the tc release 7.0 has push start. I am not saying the FR-S needs a sunroof, just that the tC has more standard equipment for the price compared to all other cars in its class. They don't have to strip down the FR-S as much as they did over the BRZ premium to hit the 25k pricing. That's why i was always saying that the bespoke was going to be standard in the FR-S because scion in the future wants this deck to be standard across the scion lineup. In other words the bespoke is the future standard deck, just released first on the FRS. If they make it optional and the price starts at $25k, nobody is going to buy it. I am still hoping they price this thing right....like $22k to $23k with what we see and the bespoke included. |

If you look on the net you see nothing on it. Its not like any other pioneer deck. I researched that much it is power by Zypr. "Zypr is a cloud based API that acts as a device portal to normalize the interface between the myriad of Internet services and connected devices." The bespoke is a Scion\Pioneer creation. The coolest thing is you can create Zypr apps for free because becoming a dev is free. http://www.zypr.net/ You know its funny that we don't see any videos of people actually using the Bespoke...hmmm |
