NonStopTuning Short Shifter, Info, Ideas, Feedback thread

Hi All!

Some of you may be aware, or may have used, of some of the NST Short Shifter kits that we've offered in the past. NST has a history of offering several different options for Scions, Toyotas, Nissans, etc. including in-cabin, engine bay, and full shifter assemblies.

...As a reference...

What we offer for the 370Z at the moment...

We are in the process of possibly coming up with a kit (or maybe more than just one option) for the FRS and BRZ community.

I've decided to start this thread to get a sense of where the community is at with the existing options and preferences. Those of you who have been holding off or have not gotten around to doing these mods, what are your reasons? And would you be more inclined to pick up one of the styles I mentioned above (in-cabin, engine, assembly) over the others?

Which style/brand would you guys say has been the best bang-for-buck thus far?

Finally, would you guys be in for an NST SSK group buy, similar to what we did with our pulley kit a couple months ago?

Thanks everyone!

I have been holding off on a short short shifter mainly because it seems like all of them have complaints of rattling.
I have no preference of engine or cabin assembly. I do recall someone on here having trouble with their trd and one piece drive shafts which has steered me away from that option.

Please make one that does not rattle. I have tried Kartboy and TWM and both have rattled.

I thought the TWM would be bombproof. Then, they fessed up that sometimes they forget an O ring in assembly and it doesn't get caught in QC.

The stock shifter does not rattle.

So - whatever you do - please look carefully at the stock shifter - test thoroughly at all rpms including HIGH rpms - dial in your product and then - do not fail at QC.

My two cents.

Good luck.

Not in the market, but I have the @BilletProShop short shifter maybe a couple years ago when they first came out and have had zero problems and works well. Shifts are a tad shorter and height was very close to the same as stock which was something I wanted. I wanted slightly shorter throw with similar to stock height and they delivered in spades. I feel it was very good bang for buck. Just my $.02.

What price range are you planning to release at? 80+ range?

I like my TRD short throw. I understand the issues with the one-piece driveshaft, though. Keep an eye on the bushings on the adapter if you go with that atyle, which appears to be similar to your Yaris setup. Mine was not in the adapter quite right, and it sucked to install as a result.
