Estimated HP gains - bolt on mods and reflash?
Guesses as to the Hp gains from bolt on mods here are mine:
CAI, headers, and exhaust = 8-12 Hp (total) reflash = 10-20 Hp Total safe increase = 18-32 Hp. That's my totally blind guess. |
I/E/Tune = 237 crank hp 93 octane

Just instake and exhaust with tune? i dunno about that from 197hp. I'm thinking... Intake - 4hp Headers - 8hp Tune - 12hp Tho I'm hoping that the 86 is extremely choked up from factory and aftermarket mods will show real good improvements EDIT: Already have some decent headers on it |

I really feel the FT86 is capable of +30hp with only I/H/E and tune... time will tell :) |
Now if we go FULL bolt on route...
Intake Throttle Body Intake manifold Headers (equal length...will lose rumble..) secondary cat delete, replace first cat with high flow 2 1/4 inch tubing (to maintain low end torque a little bit) A nice high flow muffler BAM should get 25whp..with a tune and all that Some people consider cams as bolt on...but they typically lose torque on the low end. But 30whp should be attainable with I/T/IM/CAM/H/E/Flash |

Agreed, the pictures of the engine outside the car show a large cat so I'm sure there will be room there for a good set of aftermarket headers and exhaust. As per usual on Japanese performance cars there probably isn't much left on the intake side. Also looking forward to what a tune will do for the motor.

Ill put my money on 220whp after all "bolt-ons" and tune. But we shall see
|
i would speculate it is detuned. Car companies have already made engines with 200ps/150lb torque. but with gets less then 30mpg.
They are speculating that the car gets over 30mpg. i think tune before bolt ons, we could see 5-10+ hp |

a correct IM for my car yields 15 whp alone throttle body give my engine another 4 lager exhaust gives about 8% on top of that cams gave a nother 8% gain in hp -2% loss in tq [u2b]yosZSmMlttc[/u2b](isnt my car but pulls about the same) :D love my 35mpg |
