Which Ecutec Tuner did you go with and why?
 

Ok so I've finally learned what I needed about flashing the ecu and the tuning process. My final step is picking a tuner lol. I've seen there are a nice few of them posted so I'm curious what one you picked and why? Just wanted to see if there are any big differences between them or if it's just small things here and there. It's expensive so that's why I want to make the right choice. Thanks

The best choice would be the closest tuner so they could do a custom tune on the street or dyno.

It doesn't need to. @EZWood is right. Go somewhere local, so they can get your car on a dyno. No two setups or engines are exactly the same.

I see you're in an area that probably doesn't have a local tuner. I'd go with someone that can do remote tunes, has good customer service and a proven track record. I don't see how this wont turn into a flame war if people gave their honest opinions about why they didn't choose one vendor or another...

Anyway, I'm real happy with my moto-east tune. Really great customer service. They don't seem to get much consideration here since they were a bit late to market with a tune.

Yeah where I live there isn't many options for a tuner and dyno testing unfortantely. In still trying to find out if we have a dyno here lol. So right now it comes down to picking the right tuner from 1 of the vendors on here, and seems to be a lot of good ones. Just need a point in the right direction. I'm stock ATM, but have a Perrin cat back exhaust coming, perrin air intake and drop in filter. I plan to buy a Revworks header also in the next week or 2 but would like to get the tune done first.

FA20club! I wanted a vendor within driving distance (a 10-hr drive or closer ;)) who was an Ecutek tuner and made their own aftermarket parts in-house that I want (or will want): Turbo, flex-fuel kit, CAI, headers & over/front pipe, oil cooler, etc. They custom-fabricate (if possible) any changes you want as well, and stand behind their products, with great customer support.

Still kicking myself for NOT getting my car modded & tuned earlier with them! ~30 extra WHP makes my car so much more fun to drive! Fun enough to make that 10-hr trip back to them when I'm ready for more mods/tunes. :thumbsup:

Yeah your lucky I don't have the option to go any of these vendors which is why I'm trying to make the best choice when it comes to selecting a vendor to buy a ECuTec from

In regards to the title of the thread, I went with Visconti. Why? Well I was one of the first with his groupbuy of his Stage 1 tune back in August 2012. But, I've chosen him again to tune my 2nd FRS. Why? Because he's the lead Ecutek tuner for the platform. He may have a controversial reputation on the forum, particularly for his customer support, but I believe in the performance of my car when I flash tunes from him.

I remember the last time I drove my stage1 93oct tune, I thought to myself, "Man, with every update on these tunes, the car feels more and more like I'm running e85." Idk, it may be psychological, but he definitely does have an "in" with Ecutek.

This isn't true at all!! Both @PERRIN_Jeff and @FA20Club.com are also Ecutek Master Tuners. I personally went with @FA20Club.com because he has great customer support, gives discounts on pricing when buying multiple tunes with license and cable, and has E85 support. The Perrin guys have awesome customer support as well and I have nothing but great things to say about them but I wanted E85 too.

I personally wouldn't go with Visconti for anything. High prices and poor service.

If you're looking for E85 support that leaves only one tuner.. Tony at FA20Club!!

Yeah FA20, FT86 or Perrin is what I'm considering. My full exhaust and air intake are going to be perrin, already have the cat back exhaust and air intake ordered. Going with Revworks header though. Can't seem to decide between the 3 for the tune lol

I'd recommend Visconti to anyone. I've got exceptional customer service. Perrin is good too, but John has gone well above and beyond for me. I've seen his personal dedication to getting a tune right and running safely, while still making some of the highest n/a whp this forum has seen to date. Has anyone gone above 204whp NA with just I/E/tune yet?

So quality tune, great after sale customer service, and dedication to getting the job done right. Sounds pretty good to me. :)

As far as I've read, you've never been a customer of Johns. Sounds like you're prejudging him based on someone elses information... Not saying everyone had experiences like mine, but I do have extensive experience with him beyond a simple sale. And there's always two versions of every story. Just saying...

FWIW, I believe any ECUtek dealer that orders x number of cables gets the Master Tuner designation from ECUTek
