Insurance Rape
Been a month of having the car and FINALLY my insurance company (Mercury) comes back saying they can't insure me and their "high performance" carrier will for $5k/year. I almost shit my pants! So I moved back to Progressive and they are unable to give me all the loyalty discounts I had and now I am paying $230/mo. That's if everything checks back okay on my background check.
Anyone else being F**CKED on insurance? I should have some stuff being dropped off after 6 months but still. I am 26 and not a horrible driving record. :mad0260::mad0260::iono::iono::mad0260::mad0260: |
Keep shopping. I used to pay 200$ a month for a 12 years old car when I was 21. It just sucks.

heh, you americans, so used to low insurance rates.
230 for a 26 y.o. male on a new sport(ty) car sounds bout right, esp if your record isn't perfect. mayahps your previous record and/or credit rating is getting in the way? anyway, i thought this thread was about the travesty that is the government mentality over in Kansas that thinks abortion costs should not be part of a standard insurance policy, citing that rape is just like any other accident and that its up to the person to decide whether they want to insure against it or not. now THAT's a serious issue. |
i pay $80 a month with allstate, being a 26 yr old single male driver.

Get esurance, it's an allstate company. After 6 months they'll lower your rate, and it'll keep getting lower every year.

two thing here...
either 1 - this insurance company doesn't want you as a customer (wich can happen) because you dont represent a viable risk (you are not their target customer). In this case, they can only A) refuse you or B) have a huge premium wich will force you to go somewhere else. either 2 - if every insurance company give you a higher quote than everybody else, you are the problem (driving experience, driving record, trouble neighborhoud, bad financial situation, criminal record) so you represent a higher risk to insure / higher premium insurance doesn't want to rape you... they want you to pay the real risk you represent ( + a normal part of profit as every company does). period. |
having ANY bad mark on your record with cars like the twins is going to be hell on your premiums.
not to mention these cars are still brand new so in lieu of accidents its ALL OEM parts (= more $$$) |

If you're in California/Oregon you could try Wawanesa or safeco (branch of Liberty mutual).
From what my friends told me wawanesa has been the lowest insurance they've found but of course... they have relatively strict requirements. |
I am 28 with a clean driving record and I pay $126/month for full comprehensive insurance.

I'm 26 with no tickets and only 1 claim that fell under accident forgiveness.
I pay $100/mo, $500 deductible, full comprehensive, roadside, loaner car. USAA rules. |
