Service fees in the UAE

Gents, (and ladies if applicable)

This is where we currently are: I have taken the cost of servicing up with the CR Manager at the Al Badia service centre. She has given me some feedback but not good news really. Try as she might no one is able to give her a breakdown of the costs for the 7,500km service. This service is currently quoted as AED 985.00(US$ 270.00) per service.

If we do not have the car serviced by the dealer we will not have the 5 year warranty so that is not even an option. I have raised my concern with the CR manager, Service manager and Senior service manager that one of the reasons for for buying this car is the affordable service charges normally related to a Toyota.

I will keep on asking around and keep pushing but would like to know if anyone locally has a price for the 0W20 oil we use in our cars. Toyota seems unable or unwilling to sell me one litre of oil. I have asked and was informed that they do not have a price for it but that I can order an additional litre when my car is next serviced. That will only be in about 3 months.

So any feedback would be appreciated.

7,500kms service at Toyota ?I was told at Subaru that I will need to service the car every 5,000kms after the first two free services (1,000kms and 5,000kms). I personally find the servicing cheap in the UAE compared to the UK or compared to Al Tayer where I used to service my Jaguar XJ8 untill I went to AAA.

RevoG 02-10-2013 09:22 AM

Cheap is a relative term. My problem is a 2013 Land Cruiser with a 5.7 V8 costs AED 470 for a oil service. The oil service for the 86 is AED 985. That is more than double. No way the oil is AED 600 plus for about 5 litres of the stuff.

Regarding Subaru I was told the 5K service intervals as well when I did my 1K service. I challenged that by saying the vehicle manual clearly states 15K service intervals. They came back and showed me the notice from "global" that the service interval is indeed changed from 5K to 7.5K.

I think I payed about 980aed for the 10,000 km service for my 2012 LX570, the reason I got the 86 is to have a cheap fun alternative to commute to work. Maybe we should all complain?

It wont hurt to sign a petition and send it to the Futtaim Toyota folks?

sh4d0w 02-16-2013 02:53 PM

I will sign if there is a petition. BTW my agent told me that I need to go back every 5,00km for service? The service booklet from Al Futtain also says the intervals. Is the 7,500km already in effect?

RevoG 02-17-2013 02:44 PM

Yes. Confirm with Toyota. I queried this with Al Futtaim when I did the 1000km service. Service manager showed me the email instruction with the 7500km intervals as instructed by the head office.

FT86Dubai 02-26-2013 08:52 AM

Hi guys,
At the 5k service I was asked to come back at 7500km and the service would be 985aed. I sent my driver today for the 7500km and they asked me if i want the service contract and I refused. So they changed my oil for 610aed using 5w30 oil and they placed a sticker that my next service is at 12,000km! I dont know what's going on as when I asked my driver why they said earlier that the service intervals are at 7500km he said that it was a different service advisor and he didn't agree on that.

RevoG 02-26-2013 02:24 PM

That is just wrong. Everything I have read says we need 0w20 oil. This engine is developed to use this oil. This is the oil that was used at the 1000km service so why change it now. Also the AED 610 for the service is ridiculous. Not even the oil change for a cruiser is that much, and they used the same oil!!

Absurd pricing. Daylight robbery.

This is my invoice with the 5w30

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=3674

According to the user manual on page 444 and the operating temperatures , both oils do not suit our environment specially that we get way above 38 degrees Celsius.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=3673

Also it says that 0w20 should be used in the next oil change so I assume I would have to pay 985aed at 19500km.

Anyways it clearly shows that our cars are not being serviced in a way suitable to our environment even the factory doesn't show the right oil for us here

FT86Dubai 02-27-2013 02:59 AM

Or maybe the oil can withstand heat range above and below due to the arrows at each end in the lines in the diagram.

This is confusing

ROJ 02-28-2013 12:16 PM

Arrows tell these oils will stand the heat ranges mentioned above.. Though, this is a huge crappy mess they got there... Apparently the catalog prefers 0w-20 but I assume that the Toyota technicians from Japan recommended the 5w-30 as an option.. I dont find 0w-20 commonly sold in most places here..

Another thing is those billing and intervals are weird as hell.. I dunno what are they smoking at the service center.. I have a feeling somebody is completely not paying any attention..

On the other hand, Al Khoory told me the BRZ's service intervals are every 5K for AED 500 something still.

RevoG 02-28-2013 01:51 PM

My problem with the invoice is the price of the oil. The parts department at Toyota confirmed the price for 5w30 as AED 112 for 8 litres!! Our cars only need 6. That is more than 3 times the cost.
