Mechanic for clutch and flywheel recommendations?

I took my 2013 BRz to a local shop. They wanted $1650 to replace the clutch and flywheel.

So I am looking for someplace else near LAX airport, if possible. I can still drive the car so am willing to drive 20 miles for a better price.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

that sounds insane. What clutch were they going to replace it with?

I paid 1200 at my tuner to replace the clutch and flywheel with the ACT SB7 on Monday. Included the cost of the clutch and labor.

See if they'll let you provide the parts. You'll likely incur an increased labor fee, but the upsell on parts is usually crazy. And you'll be on your own for warranty replacement of the part.

Source: When I worked in a shop, we would end up ordering the brand Rhino for the clutches people needed. These usually cost the shop 2-300 for a woven disc and installation tools, but the service writer was told to mark these up to 2-300%, since we'd typically beat the book time significantly. (book time for most jobs would cite 8-10 hours and on some cars this could be accomplished in 2 or 3) so we'd gouge on parts and not labor to seem better for the customers, while also maximizing shop output and $$$$$$$$$$

Changed trades since I'm not really into being a thief under the management I worked for.

I paid around $550 for a clutch and lightweight flywheel (oem is cheaper) and $350 for labor, but the shop only charged the actual amount of time it took them. Good luck.

Did you post in the regional section of this forum? There's got to be some recommendations in there.
