Brake Pad Question - Autocross / Daily Usage
 

I have done a ton of research on pads, but can't find something or advice for my given situation.

I'm looking for a Streetable pad That I will use for autocross roughly 1 time a month.

I dont mind keep a pair of OEM pads around for winters (since it is my daily).

I am between 3 pads.

Hawk HPS
Stoptech
EBC Yellow Stuff

I'm not crazy aggressive on street driving, but do want them to do decent in autocross. I run in a Stock class (D Street) and our local club has smaller events where you are lucky to hit 50mph.

Any advice from experienced autocrossers out there?

I use Winmax W3s. They work well for me on both street tires and Hoosiers. No noise if properly bedded, a bit of dust but not too much.

I had the HPS on my previous xar (RSX). They were nice, but I haven't try the 2 others you mention.
You can daily drive them without noise, and I used them in Canadian winter also. They do dust a lot more than stock, but didn't seem to corrode the wheels.

I use Carbotech AX6. I can get them almost quiet, but not quite. And sometimes they rebel and go super noisy. Lots of dust, very good on feel and performance - a touch soft when cold but takes nearly nothing to get enough heat for them to wake up. Noise is really the only thing that bugs me.

I drove a car with Winmax W3, very good brake feel and performance. Very likely I'll give these a try when it's time for a new set of pads/rotors.

At the moment, I autocross and road-trip in my car. And most of the road trips are to autocross events.

I won't put Hawk or EBC on my car.

How long are the courses? 30s or 130s?

From what I've read I'd bet stoptechs are perfect if there is something wrong with the OEM pads. Everything else suggested will probably be annoying with noise or dust day to day.

Although not generally recommended for the street, I’ve had an incredible experience with the Project Mu Racing 999 pad. They’re expensive, but they have massive torque when cold, are easy to modulate, and are very linear throughout their operating range. Some people have complained about noise, but if I keep them well bedded they’re totally silent for me. Braking performance on the street is not like any other pad I’ve ever used and, if you’re like me, you’ll be pushing the envelope in braking all the time simply because it’s a blast to stop so quickly. I would not recommend the Yellowstuff, not because they are bad, but because you can do better. I ran them on my previous car and wasn't impressed with their durability under heavy use. LOT of dust as well. Don't have experience with the stoptechs, but I'll backup whataboutbob's suggestion of the Winmax pads. I have the W2's currently for street/canyon and they're great, so W3 would probably be perfect for you.
