Does DD Tail as Turn work on 2017?

I'm thinking about the ACE Laguna 90 exhaust for my 2017 BRZ and I want to make sure I still have backup lights. Thx!

Not sure if serious but the MY17 has LED lights, you can't put a white light in them for the reverse.

Yes. I'm aware of the led's. That's why I'm asking. Basically, if I delete my reverse light, is there a way that I can use this mod to have a reverse light in a different place, except that I wouldn't need to add any LED's.
The reason I ask is that I've seen several posts from people who did this with their pre-17 twins after switching to this exhaust and losing the reverse light. Does that make sense, or am I misunderstanding the way this device works?

(given that they are not using the mod for it's explicit purpose, but rather taking advantage of a side effect)

What they do in the original tail lights is swap the indicator bulb with a white bulb:

You'll either have to replace all the amber LEDs with white ones, or not have a reverse light.

Okay thanks! Guess that's a no for my application.

The Tail-as-Turn™ will not be compatible with the 2017 model because of the tail light design differences.

The Diode Dynamics SmartTap™ module works on the 2017 Toyota 86 though!

You could do a small LED strip with enclosure behind the stainless mesh.

Something like this. Just out of site till the lights are on. Thats just an idea but something along those lines.

I thought they replaced the amber bulbs with dual "filament" LED's that are white when solid and flash amber (just like the replacement marker bulbs for the front), then add to the wiring harness so the solid white is triggered by the reverse light circuit?

I think that's what I'll have to do. Maybe find two small rectangular enclosures that can accommodate the existing bulbs and then splice in the connectors.

No, it uses the brake/rear lights as the indicator.

Ah, I was thinking of a different take on it using the switchback bulbs.

Out the box it moves your turn to the red circle LEDs. Since you now have the blank space where the blinker was you can move the reverse there, and replace the yellow bulb with a white bulb. You can go a step further and do a switchback blinker/reverse; but that is kinda pointless considering.
