How to remove third brake light (to tint back window)

How is the third brake light attached and how to I remove it? Through the trunk?

my tint guy just worked around it, theres quite a bit of room between the light and the glass - just need a longer reach squeegee and a bit of reach skillz.

piggy back question, is it legal to remove that light and install a light at the lower rear reflector?

^ Depends on your state. In most cases, the third brake light needs to be higher then the other two lights.

That's the first place I would look.

The bolts arent accessible from the trunk. The tint shop had to remove the rear seats and side panels to get the rear deck out of the way.

You don't need to remove it to tint the back window (99.9% sure) since it's on the inside

Wait wha!? The tint is applied on the inside.

Off Topic- On the FR-S is the defroster in between the glass or applied on the inside were you can feel it? Reason why I asked was when I got my Integra tinted and wanted to remove it later on, the adhesive pulled off some of the rear defroster material and didn't fully work in those areas.

In most states it's illegal to have it that low. It might bring more attention to you if you move the light to that lower position compared to just having 2 rear brake lights. They might not even notice you're missing a 3rd brake light if that makes sense.

I never got a ticket for running only 2 brake lights on my S2000 for a good 2-3 years.

I think it has to be at a certain distance from the ground. That is no way high enough at the lower area.

the third brake light actually comes off, but just the top part and not the base. my tint guy just slowly pulled and wiggled it back.
