Insurance...

What do we all think the 86 and BRZ will cost for insurance.

I will most prob have to go with Just Car Ins as I am not over 25 so no other insurance will cover me.

I am hoping this will be different as this isn't a turbo car :P

I currently am paying 1200 a year for my Aristo which is a twin turbo car...

So I hope it's alot less then that!!!

Nardi330 12-30-2011 02:18 AM

I'd think it should cost me around $800 with Shsnnons.

That's what I'm currently paying for my Golf GTI.

Smacca 12-30-2011 02:52 AM

For perspective, as a 26yo my MX-5 SE (factory turbo) was $1050 a year through QBE. That was with only a $500 excess and car value of 30k.

At 28, I'm expecting insurance for the 86 to be similar, perhaps a little cheaper.

Naturally aspirated will be a whole bucket of win here, haha.

Just got a quote through Just Car Insurance. Based on an MX5 with a sale price of $40,000 (I figured that was the closest comparison based on drivetrain, power:weight ratio, etc)... it was $914 with a $400 excess or $846 with a $600 excess. That's based on me being the youngest driver (at age 25) and in a lower-middle class suburb.

Just realised I no longer have an extra age excess since I turned 25 in October. Winning! Pity I no longer have a turbo car now...

Good thinking will give that a try now :P

Turned out pretty good with Just Car.

So 22 Year old said car was 40k... agreed value.
lower - mid class neigh.
$936 Per Amm.
Exess 400
+ Age 22 - 25 year excess 350.

So I am pretty happy with that!!!

So I am praying that the 86 Cost this much!

Sent a general enquire to Just Car :P -

Nambo 12-30-2011 10:25 PM

I'm paying $1,760 with Just Car - 22 yo, lower-middle class neighbourhood, MY10 Impreza 2.0 R

Excess $550 + Age $600 + Ad-Just $200

Probably because I reside in Victoria?

Driving record? how long have you been driving for?

I got my license back in 2006 and have rating one.

Nambo 12-30-2011 11:02 PM

Since January 2008 - Rating 4...that might explain a lot.

Slide 12-31-2011 04:48 AM

Yes that explains a lot ;) it goes down a fair bit one raiting one :)

Tis bullshit that you have to wait to the age of 25 to start to see your insurance premiums come down.

At one point i was considering a runabout 1.2 polo TSI, the insurance companies where wanting 1200-1400k just because the motor was forced induced, regardless of the tiny motor cubic capacity.

dumb.

Insurance for the BRZ and 86 has got to be cheap due to the naturally aspirated motor configuration. Im assuming insurance will be around the Mazda MX5 range. Maybe a tad cheaper than what Smacca gets for his Mazda.

Calais 01-09-2012 12:26 AM

where do you find your insurance rating?

Slide 01-09-2012 01:38 AM

Your insurance policy should say it...

But you start on 5 and it increase/decreases each year you don't have a crash...

Calais 01-10-2012 06:34 AM

ahh kk thanks
