Car prices in Europe

Hi everyone!

I was looking at the different Toyota sites for scandinavian countries + some other nearby countries.. .. and then some more.
I took note of the Aygo price and GT 86 price. I also looked at the price difference between the two cars (GT 86 price divided on Aygo price). Basically how many Aygos can you buy instead of a GT86. :)

Sweden (SEK): 101.900 vs 304.900= 3
United K. (GBP): 7999 vs 24999 = 3,1
France (euro): 9.400 vs 29.900 = 3,2
Germany (euro): 8.990 vs 29.990 = 3,3
Norway (nok): 131.400 vs 459.000= 3,5
Iceland (isk) 2.195.000 vs 8.090.000 = 3,7
Finland (euro): 10.844 vs 46.624 = 4,3
Netherlands (euro): 7.990 vs 39.990= 5
Denmark (dkk): 79.990 vs 539.997 = 6,7

Prices translated into USD - (Highest GT86 price last)
Germany :10903 vs 36371
France : 11400 vs 36371
United k.: 12384 vs 38705
Sweden: 14631 vs 43778
Netherlands: 9690 vs 48499
Finland : 13151 vs 56545
Iceland : 17057 vs 62867
Norway: 21648 vs 75620
Denmark:13074 vs 88263

Price difference between Aygo and GT86 in USD
France: 24971
Germany: 25468
United k.: 26321
Sweden: 29147
Netherlands: 38809
Finland: 43394
Iceland 45810
Norway: 53972
Denmark: 75189

Some notes:
-There are differences in options so when prices are translated into USD, some countries may have a car with more options in their standard price compared to others. (I know Norway and Sweden basically have the top spec GT86)

-Some countries have much higher saleries than others. So even if the price is translated into USD. It does not say anything about how much you have to work for a car.

-The price difference between the Aygo and the 86 is not that different. Often around 3,5.

- Denmark is a country where (small) ECO cars are highly valued it seems! Aygo is cheap there (cheaper than in Sweden, and way cheaper compared to Norway). But it is also the country in this comparison with the highest GT86 price! For the price of 1 GT86 you can buy 6 Aygos and still have 9819USD left!

-Netherlands is like Denmark. Only cheaper, especially on the GT86. Best price for Toyota Aygo in Europe?

-Cars are generally very expensive in Norway. I considered Aygo to be cheap here. It isn't!

-Being a Norwegian car enthusiast, the problem is not that I would have to pay 10.745 USD more for an Aygo compared to the Germans, basically twice the price. It is still a relative small amount of money (in the car world).
The problem is having to pay around 39000 USD extra for an GT86! Then we are talking big money! Atleast when looking at the total price.
(and don't get me started on cars with bigger engines.. Things will look much worse)

-Cars are very affordable in Germany! And prices/taxes for big engines are nothing to worry about in UK, France or Sweden.

-Car enthusiasts in Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Finland are being screwed, some more than others..

Damn, the danes are even worse off than us on the '86! But yeah, those Aygos must be government sponsored or something down there!

WOW.. I remember seing some insane price somewhere on this board.
Wondering if Israel and Taiwan were in the same boat? Not able to check their prices due to language on homepage.

Found the price list for Singapore. Strange pricing there compared to.. ehm, all European countries on my list so far. The Aygo is not available in singapore, so ill take the cheapest Toyota I can find. The Vius.
(Guessing the Aygo would be 110000GSD??)

Toyota Vius 1.5 :116488 SGD = 93144 USD
Toyota GT 86 : 195988 SGD = 156713 USD
Difference: 1,7x
Price differece : 63564 USD

So, basically. New cars are very expensive in Singapore!
I am more shocked about the price of the cheap car (Vius). 93144USD! Compared to the price of the GT86. On the other hand, people from Singapore are generally very wealthy!

Geography and info on Singapore. Singapore is not in Europe. It is a tiny country in Asia. And i mean tiny!
According to some page,5th wealthiest country in the world.
Wiki says: Singapore has the world's highest percentage of millionaires, with one out of every six households having at least one million US dollars in disposable wealth. This excludes property, businesses, and luxury goods, which if included would further increase the number of millionaires, especially as property in Singapore is among the world's most expensive

In case you tought that was high.. 25% VAT here. Have been like that for years.

If you want to buy a normal used 2011/2012 car in Norway, registration fee is about 2250EURO/3000USD! Basically just for a small amount of quick paperwork! (It gets cheaper by the years)

Want to buy a house in Norway? Just pay a little fee of 2,5%. Based on the whole sales value of the house!

Engine taxes alone on the GT86 is roughly 26000EURO/33500USD.

A new GT86 or BRZ with discount etc is 29.000 euros in Italy.
An Aygo is 10,000

In Russia GT 86 starts from RUB 1.353m - circa. USD 43k. No Aigo available, the cheapest Toyota is Corolla which is exactly twice cheaper. Feeling very sorry about you guys in Denmark and Norway :( How much is base Boxer there?

I assume you were talking about the Porsche Boxster?

Norway
Boxster 211hp: 652.000 NOK =113.000 USD
Boxster: 740.000NOK = 129.000 USD
Boxster S: 938.000 NOK = 163.000 USD

Denmark:
Boxster= 168.500 USD
Boxster S= 210.000 USD

RaceR 11-19-2012 03:28 PM

In Greece GT86 costs: 35900 EURO/46000USD
Economy there is bad, and not many people can afford a new car. Especially not a car that cost 3-4 times as much as the typical small car. Im guessing it will be easy to count the numbers of GT86/BRZ sold in greece in 2013.

Sure, Boxster. Thanks!

You have a 211hp Boxster? I guess it is the same engine with reduced power for some taxation reasons and could be easily tuned back to 265hp? Then buying a GT 86 for $75k you should be a real fan! :respekt:

Prices in Portugal

Toyota Gt86 goes from 39780€(MT), 42510€(sport/MT) to 44175€ (sport&AT).
So we must spend more 10000€ than most of other european countries to buy the Gt86.:mad0259:

Switzerland: Standard version with HID lights and engine start push button is 42'000 CHF (~34k euro).
