Advice selling gt86

Is it worth selling a 2013 coupe with mods? Or take them off?

120000kms on the car because I drive a lot so that would de value the price a lot I realise.

Has e85 via oft. Single exit cannon. Ultrex catless headers.and a nice set of wheels.

Thoughts? What sort of price ranged would I be looking at?

Any advice appreciated.

$20000 tops.

500 plus for sale Aussie wide.
More mods less value.
People want unmolested cars
Just like the gt4 these cars are fighting to hold their value.
Reason?
Over supply second hand
Mods.

Without question, remove as many of your mods as you can and sell them separately, for 2 reasons:

1: People really do prefer (in general) unmodified cars if given the option (as ZAZ says), and there are plenty of unmodified cars in the market besides yours.
2: You might be able to claw back a couple of hundred bucks selling your parts to get you nearer to $20k

Lower your expectations regarding price. Red book values a 2013 GT between $13,700 and $18,600 in a private sale. The lower end of that bracket is for cars with km of 100,000km and yours has even more.

The depreciation ugly stick has really taken to these cars, it's actually quite depressing. @ZAZ GT4 were few & far between, the GroupA even less so - about 153 examples of 185R & 70 odd of the 205R imported into Oz by TMCA.

Off topic but relevent.
Sellers beware
I was offered a Carlos Group A for $25000 ten years back.
I bought one out of Malaysia for $4500 landed for under $10000.
Its in my shed on red plates value only $18000

Just bought a GT 86 out of a country shed $20000 with 5000 k only owned by dealer since new bought as a keeper changed his mind.
He was asking 25-26000 took 20000 and with rwc.
Will let you know in ten years what its worth.
Insured only for $20000 with Shannons who say thats all its worth.
Red book says way less depending who is selling, dealer, private.
The only mods are 299 mm front vented rotors and 290 rears which we were able to fit without changing the calipers and gts Ferodo pads.

We kept the oem rotors to put back on if someone objects but I might show them the purple oxide to show why we chose vented rears.
We also kept the pristine? Yokahamas and wheels which we also offer to restore back if the buyer insists.
Choosing to run the Enkeis 8 inch alloys and Z rated tyres choosing to stick rather than slip around corners.

But car is a keeper and found after checking out couple dozen brz/86 off gumtree and passing on them.
Car is unmolested nothing we did cant be reversed.
Reason is I really think it will hold its value if only we could stop driving a brand new six year old car.
1000 k up already in four weeks thats more than previous owner did per year.

Its a buyers market heaps out there between 25000 and 75000 km at $20000

When I'm in the market for a used car I look for cars that have mods, as long as they are what I want that is, good quality parts is always a plus in my books, I don't pay any extra compared to a standard car though.

I would clean the hell out of it and put it up for whatever the similar mileage cars are going for.

As for the OFT and E85, I would drop back in the stock tune and run 98.

If a kid turns up offer the OFT as a freebie, if they are older, dont, I wouldn't touch a car that had a OFT, personal opinion.

Is it loud, that's gonna limit you buyers.

What brand are the wheels, Jap or no name lead weights.

Do you have the OEM parts or do you need to source them.

How much money can you make from selling the aftermarket parts, if you can even find a buyer for them.

Prices range from $19k down to $12k on car sales.

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/res...r.range(110000..).)

Mostly it depends on how willing you are to sell it, for a quick sale start at $13k, if you have the time, and if the car is mint, start at $18k and drop it by around $100 every week, even then it might not sell for months.

Anyways, have a look on carsales and try and rate your car to typical examples, and then drop at least $500.

Good luck

Personally I think the 86 is undervalued, all the kids out there RAISE YOUR PRICES, you're being stupid !!

@86MLR OFT with v.good tune is actually far superior than stock Toyota/Subaru tune ;)

ps: my hachi has done about 2-3K kms in the last 2 years

Ack on the OFT being better than stock, it's just some buyers dont like the OFT tunes, or tunes in general

I would pick my audience, if a young kid came I would say, here's a OFT if you want it.

If a older person came I wouldn't mention it being tuned.

steve99 01-09-2019 05:19 AM

Id put the car back to stock tune unmarry oft amd sell oft , you jist about guaranteed to get arround $500 for and unmarried oft in australia

Mr.ac 01-09-2019 06:30 AM

Un-modded cars always sell better. You can wait and see for the one person what would love the same mods you have on and sell it to them. That's if you are in no hurry to sell.

If you just want to sell it fast, remove mods.
