assistance finding side view mirror parts

Hey,

A chunk of wood hit my car today and took out casing around my side view mirror. Can you help me find the parts I need to fix it?

Attached is a pic of the 2x4 and the more important part - my side view (driver's side, 2013 FR-S)

I'll need paint to fix the scratch on the door, too.

I would encourage you to verify, but I believe what you are looking for are the following:

Blue (F8H) Cover - SU003-03078
Lower Cover - SU003-03091

That must of been scary seeing that 2x4 coming at you.

do you have the pieces?

No. I just looked them up on a parts list web site that I refer to often. That site is https://www.sparksparts.com/auto-par...-h4-gas-engine.

Although prices are list on this web site, once you have the part number, you can always Google to see if you can find them cheaper.

i was asking @lynnmichelle

trying to find pictures of the tabs to remove the painted covers to make carbon fiber versions is nearly impossible.

No pieces, the 2x4 took it all off with one clean swoop.

Out of curiosity, how do salvage yards work? Do I bring a screwdriver and pry things off a car in the yard? Do I negotiate prices? Can I call and ask if they have a blue one (since the back part is a painted piece?

Depends on how they are set up. In many you can pull your own parts and save some money or they will pull them for you for a fee. The nice part is that if you can find the parts you need they are usually local so the paint fade and such will be the same as your car.

it's a per-yard basis. the majority, you check if they have the car/color you're looking for and they remove the part by any means necessary and then put it on the counter for you to purchase.

if the yard specifically says something like 'pick your part' or 'u-pull', then it's a yard that you can take off your own parts. but the majority of DIY yards don't have our cars in inventory.

if you look at 'used' parts for the brz/fr-s/86 on ebay, just about all the sellers have a thing saying that if there's a specific part you're looking for to send them a message to check availability.

in your case, i would recommend asking for the entire used mirror assembly in the color you need instead of attempting to get only the plastic pieces you really need. because it's going to be difficult to guarantee that they'll be able to get those individual plastic pieces off without breaking the mounting tabs.

I don’t have anything else to contribute except if that piece of wood was going to hit your car, the side mirror was the safest thing! [emoji33][emoji29]

Maybe leave it like that, for weight savings?? [emoji28]
