You don't need it, I have one but our turn signal stalk doesn't stop (or have resistance) in the middle , so it's a
nuisance to use it. I end up just pushing it all the way 70% of the time.

There, save your 50 dollar for something else. :w00t:

Tap Turn is the original. I will always support him, rather than the massive company that used their advertising might to sell basically identical modules. Nothing really against them, but I prefer to buy the original. Also I love it.

Not really sure what @chaoskaze is talking about, but his turn signal stalk must be broken, as I don't have that issue. The tap-to-signal function is great, and it's all I ever use when changing lanes.

I even have a video showing all of the features (though the approach and departure lighting was disabled.)

And let me head off some inevitable comments:

The tap to signal feature is useful. The approach/departure lighting is VERY useful at night, especially when you have bright LED turn signal bulbs. The strobe feature might seem "silly" but is great in situations where you really want to draw attention to the car, and have people avoid you - like on the highway.

Many thanks, yes, the original has even side parking light feature but it's more expensive (90$ vs 75$ with shipping to EU, and we pay taxes even on shipping).
Someone says that approching light doesn't work on 86/BRZ, any feedback?

I would still rather pay a bit more to support the original creator. A company the size of Diode Dynamics is going to be able to mass produce them at a lower cost much more easily.

To clarify, I'm not against DD. All my lighting comes from them. I just prefer to give my money to the guy who was making them for many, MANY years before DD finally mirrored it.

Approach and departure lighting works fine on my USDM 2015 BRZ.

Yea not sure what @chaoskaze is referring too, I've had tapturn on my car for 3 years now with no issues, and the convenience of the tap lane changes is well worth it especially with LEDs. I've had it setup for more 5 flashes and it plenty of time for turns in a turning lane and other situations.

TapTurn, preferably with LED front and rear turn signals all the way. Diode Dynamics smart tap is seemingly a copy of the tapturn and they said in a post that they approached the person involved with tapturn but gave them attitude which I highly doubt.

I have Valenti Euro Winker. It works great.

gpvecchi 08-22-2018 04:10 PM

Valenti is just for tap turn functionality, no strobo or else...

It also only does 3 blinks, and has no adjust-ability.....

mrg666 08-23-2018 03:31 PM

I don't need to adjust. Three blinks are fine. And, I don't need those strobes either.

Still, you paid a LOT of money for something that does very little (I see it listed for $65 on SubiSpeed). TapTurn and SmartTap aren't really that much more, and you not only get the 3 blinks, but adjustable blinks, various strobe patterns, hazard modes, approach/departure lighting, directional parking lights... seems silly to spend $65 on a module that does significantly less if you can have a bunch more! Hell, the SmartTap module is $5 less!

mrg666 08-23-2018 05:11 PM

It was 50 bucks at Amazon when I bought it two years ago and it is a very cool red color. How about that? :D
