That supports my decision to wait a year or longer for a STi Version with supercharger and suitable brakes.

No, Impreza pads aren't great pads to begin with. It's eco pads, so if you wanna track it, it's best replace w better pads

It is but only in combination with 4 piston front brakes and good brake cooling. I'm sure Subaru or Toyota will release a more track focused car in the future :)

I would expect that since they are oem brakes. That probably explains why the Gazoo FT86 @ Nurburgring had the brake cooling duct and probably something Toyota/Subaru will update in the later versions.

Anyone noticed the "GT 86" badge at the rear end of the car? Saw it the first time - looks nice.

Due to the thing with the fading brakes: In some other reviews the were always talking about stable, well performing brakes :iono:

I assume your Celica Gt-4 does not have stock pads in it? As was brought up, people run stock 2 piston WRX brakes all the time on the track with just fluid,pads and lines. No worries.

You're right: There are EBC Yellowstuff pads installed - 2 laps on Nürburgring Nordschleife in a row are possible without any problems - but even stock the brakes are awesome (4 piston front brakes)!

It was mentioned in the review below (at that same event) that each journalist had a 10 lap stint one after another but many would not do a cool down lap. Therefore, the three cars available suffered from brake fade and shudder. One car experienced complete brake fade and was taken out temporarily for repair.

There isn't a brade pad in the world that would take that abuse. However, OEM brake pads are not designed for track use so I would be willing to bet a pad upgrade would solve the fade problems for track use on stock tires. Maybe cooling ducts would be necessary on slicks.

Stock pads are always going to do that. Pads, lines, fluids and some home depot ducting will solve 90% of the braking issues on the track.

Always? I disagree. My Mini John Cooper Works has got stock brake cooling (looks well finished into the front bumper. No need to cut out the fog lamps), stock 4 piston breaks, stock brake pads and is suitable for the track. I only switched to performance brake pads because of the brake pad wear, though fading never was an issue.
Same for my mates Renault Megane RS which also got a slip differential (I envy him for that ;))

So, there are some cars with track capabilities and I'm excited what sharper version Subaru might release in the future because the whole concept of the car is utterly good and cries for power and bigger brakes. :)
