Whiteline differential insert bushings review

Hello,

I just installed the Whiteline rear diff bushings KDT925 tonight and I want to share my opinion.

For sure, I have the transmission insert and the rear subframe crossmember insert too, then you can base my opinion with all of these modifications.

I will also say, the review is based under conditions, radio at off and with an TRD exhaust, when I will speak about NVH.

Installation? pretty easy to install with the document provided by Whiteline.

First impression? the car feel a little bit more solid like after the subframe bushing installation and the shifter is a little bit more tight like after the trany insert.

The clunk sound when you engage the first gear from the neutral like you have with the stock setup is now more like an mechanical sound, from the trany and gear probably.

You will also hear the sound when shifting from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3... Other gears are at least the same as before.

During accelerating, you will now have a little gear sound, also without the radio and after 110km/h on the highway.

During normal cruise, like under 100km/h, you will not hear anything you can't live with.... Because race car ;)

I can say, the sound come from the trany insert too.

Conclusion, I don't want to drive this car without these 3 bushings insert kit anymore, the shifting is very more tight now and the feeling of the gaz pedal go directly to the rear wheel. The diff insert really help with the direct gaz pedal and power feeling who goes to the rear wheels.

I will also add to terminate, I prefer running the rear subframe bushing with the trany bushings. The diff bushing is an complement to all of them.

I just installed mine this past weekend as well. You can definitely hear a slight gear whine if you're really listening for it, but with the radio on you won't hear the difference!

@wparsons did you hear a sound when you release the clutch on reverse from the trany?

I come back from the dealer for windows scratch today and they told me, hey dude I think your trany is broken... I have replied, it's normal it's my bushings bro.

Do you have this also?

I wrote a mail to Whiteline, here is the answer : "Those driveline bushings will increase NVH. Will they damage those driveline parts? No. However, you will feel everything from the driveline and it may make you feel uneasy."

I had these bushings installed, and I can definitely hear the whine from the diff at slow speeds in 1st gear especially. Not too bad.

It definitely made things feel tighter, I'm happy with the difference.

Anything on the revers gear just if you release the clutch?

Could you please try for me?

The slop in my drivetrain is so bad, I can feel the car bouncing when I let off the throttle (or give it throttle) on the highway in 4th/5th gears. I can see the bouncing on the tachometer too.

I don't remember if it was this bad when I first bought the car, but I just bought a set of these inserts to see if they'll fix things. Right now, it almost feels like a worn-out/busted diff bushing or subframe bushing.

Am going to check if everything is correctly torqued but after all of your comment and the email from Whiteline, I think the "mechanic" sound seem to be normal.

Finally, after asking some users running the same setup and some users experimented, everything is normal. Then if you don't want to add an clunk sound who will come from the transmission during shifting, do not install these bushings inserts.

If you can live with the little sound or if you don't really care to get more NVH, do it!

I love the feeling now and i enjoy it after confirming we can't break anything.

Ive been looking into this for a little while, glad to read some good reviews and hear experiences. I know after the whiteline transmission insert and shifter bushing the NVH did arise some concerns, at least I know what to expext now. Just wondering how this compares to a differential brace such as cusco? Im picturing more NVH, but im more concerned about the end result.

I would like to know about a diff brace like Cusco also.

Bit I don't think the Cusco brace will add more NVH compare to the Whiteline insert because he is mounted on bushings.

Cusco have the collar for the bolts on the front of the diff also but they sell it separately...

Do you have the trany insert?

Yes I have the whiteline/ perrin combo and after the install there was increased NVH but the worst of it was the crazy shaking of the shifter itself. Im actually torn between the whiteline inserts from the OP and the Cusco brace. They both look relatively easy to install but im not completely sold on one. Whiteline looks good for the price, but then again they are 2 different materials/ designs. And that front diff insert does seem intriguing as well, my guess is that the rear brace doesnt provide a complete solution or maybe thats their answer to whitelines subframe inserts.

I wonder if any one on here has gone all out and did all three not necessarily by the same manufacturer. Im wondering how the NVH was then and if it was overkill.

I run the trany/diff/subframe insert from Whiteline like mentioned before and I love the feeling now, it's not too much NVH for me...

I will say, start with the subframe bushing after your trany insert, he remove a lot of play on the rear.

I will say, after this, if you are really minded, do the diff insert just to complete the setup.

But the subframe insert will do like 80% to make the rear more stiffer and I will give 20% for the diff insert to complete.

You have my subframe insert review here : http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60623

Active more power to the wheels!!!

Im prepping for boost at the moment thats why ive become increasingly intrested in tightening up the drivetrain. Subframe inserts have been at the top of my list along with a crossmeember insert/brace. I saw your review on the subframe inserts, how hard was it to rescrew that one bolt? im thinking of just getting new bolts if its only 4 bolts, maybe they are one time use bolts? i really dont want to strip the threads to the chassis. Did you use any type of lube when cleaning the threads or just compressed air? any other tips for the install?

I use only anti-seize every time to prevent seizing. Of course do not tight the bolt at the oem spec after applying a lubricant. I have torqued the bolts only on my hand...

If you absolutely want to have them torqued, you can search on the web to find the chart to calculate what is the torque for an lubricated bolt.

I will suggest you to clean the holes with an air compressed to avoids problems in case...

We have done these bussing on 2 differents cars and only experimented the problem on my car... And it's was only more tight to screw for one bolt due to some debris on the hole... This is why am suggesting to use compressed air... That I forget to do...

Good luck and just take your time! It's supposed to be very easy.
