Pre-Orders
This wil be my first car, I already preordered 2 days ago. I have a couple of questions for people who ordered the BRZ/FRS.
Price XXXX Ontario Tire Tax - 29 Freight - 1595 Federal Air Conditioner Tax - 100 Admin Fee - 199 Registration Fee - 299 License fee - 94 1. I just wanted to know, if these fees or charges were standard when you pre-ordered your vehicle. 2. Also, did you manage to decrease the sales price. |
Admin fee means they are asking you to pay money to do their damn job of selling you the car. Do you pay administration fees on anything else? No. That is covered in the MSRP.
Registration and license fees, not too sure about Ontario but in BC it doesn't cost anywhere close to that to register, get plates and insure a car with ICBC. Is that basically what they are telling you that is? You get the insurance and paperwork through the dealer instead of a different insurance company? If so, fuck that and get it somewhere else. The enviro taxes (tire and AC) seem pretty standard but I would negotiate them away if I could. Freight is absurd as it is over double what the US pays and likely just dealer profit. In BC I think I can negotiate that down rather easily, and you could try too saying why should you pay the same freight as the Maritimes when you are so much closer. You don't want to subsidize those un-employed bums (j/k East Coasters...) by paying the same freight charge when the car only goes half the distance. Then you can have a look at the US Invoice pricing on here and see that their profit margin is padded there, too. I think bare minimum you should pay MSRP and the dealer can eat the fees. They will still make almost $2000 on the sale. And if they whine about having to make a living, think about if you've ever seen a poor car dealership manager. I never have... |
you should look at the group buy thread in your area since I think they managed to get 500 above invoice which beats ur deal

I already placed the deposit at Markham Subaru, which is non-refundable and signed the papers. However, your suggesting I negotiate the price when the vehicle arrives. Also, I will try to get free accessories if they refuse to lower the price.
Has anyone dealt with Markham Subaru? |
Canadian Freight is normalized across the board for Scion, its their average cost of getting a car into any given dealership
although TECHNICALLY, technically, BC should in theory have the lowest of all Canadian freight charges because the fucking boat docks a block away. :D |
the richmond dealership is like 10 mins away from the docks so its kind of lame we have to pay the same as everyone once even tho we get our cars 1st
|
Anyone know what the registration fee is in Ontario? And if we do not take our plates over from a trade-in, what is the new license fee?
|
Hold it, you placed a non-refundable deposit and negotiated a price for a car that isn't available for sale and the price isn't known for? I hope you misunderstood your dealer or you can take them to small claims if they refuse to refund. All this preorder business is about is a right of first refusal, that's ALL. None of it means jack until a car arrives, you test-drive it and realize you actually want it FOR THE PRICE THEY CAN OFFER IT AT.

The dealer told me that he would charge me
MSRP(whatever that may be) + fees listed above + tax(13%) - 1000(deposit) The deposit would be non-refundable. It didn't matter to me because I was keen on getting this vehicle over other coupe in the market. But it doesn't mean I wont negotiate the price. |

Holy crap - 299 for registration? What a ripoff. I guess the license fee only applies if you do not bring a license in from a trade-in?
|
Thanks for your suggestions, I'm going to bring this up with the dealer when the car arrives.
How much is registration when you first purchased your vehicle? |
