DanoFA20 11-10-2012 09:13 PM

yah i was seeing that commercial today id love to see it!

tawheed 11-10-2012 09:51 PM

This episode is like two weeks old?

White64Goat 11-10-2012 10:03 PM

Not sure but they did another review of the car a few weeks ago, not at Isle of Man.

pinoyplaya 11-10-2012 10:06 PM

I dont see it on the TV guide. It shows as Wednesday for me -.-

I'll check on demand.

ashtray 11-11-2012 02:37 AM

I saw the episode where they did a basic review. "Needs more power.". Then they went on to say "I do believe that was a power slide!".

Later in the episode they're driving the new M3 GTR (or something - had a cage instead of rear seat). Comment was "needs more power to really get the back end out". Just how much power do these guys need?!

(ok, it was probably a traction issue and the M3 wasn't exactly wearing skinny Primacy tires...)

Tambat 11-11-2012 03:06 AM

i just saw the commercial for this. i initially thought this was a repost for the episode where they already covered this car, but there is indeed a new episode on Weds where Tiff takes it around the Isle of Mann. (part of the commercial clip has a quote of him saying he is going 170mph!)
on a side note, i have been watching these new 5th gear episodes and.. am i the only one that is sick and tired of them constantly judging cars by doing powerslides/drifting? looks cool and all but it got old a while ago. hold some grip and give me some lap times!

ashtray 11-11-2012 04:19 AM

I'm guessing he's saying kph? Top speed aero limited to 146 or so I think.

With Top Gear taking too long of a break (heck, even the US series!), I've been trying to watch 5th Gear. I'm not getting in to it. It's not bad like that Car Show with Adam what's his face. But it's a bit boring? Jeremy power slides cars around with a huge grin on his face and proves nothing. 5th Gear tries it, and they turn it into a nerdy science thing instead. They just strip some of the fun out of it somehow. I can't explain.

And a 0-60 drag race with 450-500+ hp cars? It's all launch. They need to do 1/4 mile or 1/2 mile to show which car really has legs instead of which can get out of the hole the best.

enjoy while it's still on youtube

turns out he was saying 170mph but the commercial was very misleading. he was actually talking about how fast the bikes fly down the course but they edited out everything but "170mph!"

video was kind of "meh". nothing really new and he manages to complain about the lack of power a few times.

DeepHunta 11-11-2012 04:33 PM

yes, this is episode is almost 3 weeks old. The first review was on an 86 by Jason about a month ago. A few weeks after that the BRZ was on the Isle Of Man. It was very short lived though. Less than 3 minutes of "review" time if you want to call it that.

I think Top Gear UK will honor the BRZ86 better with a full section, meaning a 10 minute review :)

:happy0180: to hoping it gets reviewed in the month of January.

racecaresuaceb 11-12-2012 12:44 AM

That was a very good episode. Although Tiff didn't talk much about the BRZ dynamically, the John McGuiness TT piece and Twizzy piece were good.

Fifth Gear TONIGHT

Hey guys, @FRES86 just texted me that tonight's episode of Fifth Gear will feature the Subaru BRZ. It's on at 10pm on Velocity. I don't have cable, haha... so I can't watch it, but maybe some of you can. That is in 40 minutes on the west coast!

DarrenDriven 11-15-2012 12:35 AM

Tell me if it's worth downloading tomorrow or not. :)

Estey 11-15-2012 12:37 AM

awesome, thanks for letting us know. Ill be watching this

ill86 11-15-2012 12:44 AM

Thanks! Just set it to record at 1am. (15 min from now)

CSSM 11-15-2012 12:49 AM

Just set it to tape for watching when I get home for Thanksgiving week!

Dispect 11-15-2012 01:25 AM

weird. i just went online and it was aired last month :/ tv-links.eu guys

Estey 11-15-2012 01:33 AM

I was kind of disappointed, the car was only in the show for about 5 minutes. although im only half way through but i highly doubt its making anymore appearances

bmxbandit 11-15-2012 08:34 AM

I was very disappointed as well. The focus was less on the BRZ and more on the experience of racing around the Isle of Man. The track is very cool and definitely would be a once in a lifetime thing but when you are watching and expecting more emphasis on the car you will be let down.

So I'd say it isn't worth the time to download DarrenDriven.

Braces 11-15-2012 08:56 AM

Agree with other posts. Emphasis was not on the car itself. Same theme though .... car just needs a little more power according to the driver.

knewsom32 11-15-2012 09:25 AM

Just to let you know it's about to show again @ 9 am. I'm central time though, so not sure what it'd be for you guys that missed it.

Foobar 11-15-2012 09:51 AM

I was laying in bed watching Wheelers & Dealers and saw the ad about the Fifth Gear coming up with the BRZ. I ended up dozing off and when I woke up again shortly after the show started, the BRZ segment was already over. LOL

I totally agree.

BigFatFlip 11-15-2012 03:01 PM

I like Tiff, he talks funny

nonicname 11-15-2012 06:48 PM

"it needs more power and torque" lol.
so right!

bunny86 11-16-2012 05:00 AM

As much as we moan about the BBC license fee in the UK at least if Top Gear did a segment such as this there would be 3 or 4 outside broadcast cameras to catch the action from the roadside.

"...c'mon stir it up subie..." I got a good laugh for that...it did look like he was having a good time driving the car which is the reason we all bought them isn't it?! :burnrubber:Plus he slammed it around and it didn't fall apart...let's see Genesis coupe do that...

BioRage 11-16-2012 09:55 AM

So.. great handling, no power...

Great handling, enough power for most.

Not in the US of A.

Zadkiel 11-16-2012 09:22 PM

I can never understand the complaints of "Needs more power". 200hp might not be enough for those who've driven things with more power, but on twisty backroads? Plenty of enough power.

Most car reviewers on these shows where the FT86 is good enough to actually be on, are comparing it to other sports cars that cost much more... I'm sure if they were reviewing the other FT86 competitors in same price range "more power" wouldn't be the only thing they could complain about.

jflogerzi 11-16-2012 10:11 PM

That looked fun as hell! I would love to have been in the passenger seat.
