Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona 1/25-26
Testosterone time this weekend! For the first time the United SportsCar Championship series debuts starting on Fox for the first two hours and then switching to other networks for the remainder of the race.
This will be historic and epic with the unification of the Grand Am and American Le Mans series running together for the first time. It's the only series where you can see NASCAR, IndyCar, F1 and SCCA pilots competing wheel to wheel in four classes with over sixty cars. It's gonna get a little crazy but is the future of sports car racing so as they say check your local listings and set up the DVR. http://www.daytonainternationalspeed...t-Daytona.aspx |
In Canada, Speed will have about 20 hours of coverage, with a few hours off from about 2-6 am ET Sunday.

91 Viper on the GTLM pole!!
...too bad qualifying doesn't pay, lol. I'm stoked for this weekend, hopefully we have a good race. |
Very excited for this race. So many story lines.

I hope IMSA/NASCAR gets a clue before they make sports car racing in North America totally irrelevant. They are not even providing full race streaming video on their own website. I am so frustrated. At least I will be at the Sebring race to see the cars and teams first hand. |
The FOX station in the DC area isn't showing it and they already got a complaint from me. Getting rid of the SPEED Channel was really a mistake. I think the overnight is going to be on IMSA.com website. I knew when SPEED bit the dirt, motorsports was gonna take a backseat to any other sport that was available to watch besides motorsports. FOX DC has a rerun of White Collar and then a college BB game. Whoopee..........

One helluva hit between the 99 and 62.
|
Just watched the replay on my DVR. Man that was a vicious hit. I'd say he was knocked out because there was no movement in the cockpit. It looks like he saw the car at the very last second and tried to move right but that actually made it worse because all the impact was on the left front of the car. The car he hit was actually airborne (probably 2 feet) with all 4 wheels off the ground and his car was up on the 2 right side wheels. Praying he is ok.

I found a live stream of the race online so I can now watch the entire race. Someone tell me why I bother with TV at all anymore.
Interesting race so far. Hopefully, both those drivers are going to be alright. I suspect some serious leg injuries for Gidley. I hope I am wrong. |
Word is Memo was alert and talking, at halifax.
|
Last audio I heard from Eli Gold on MRN around 8:55 is that both drivers awake and talking. No report on injuries yet. Online coverage at IMSA.com and Foxsports.com/motor but both only have in-car views that I have found. Anyone find full field coverage like TV?
