injen intake problem

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I haven't really seen any posts about the injen intake having problems. I purchased one and put it on and I noticed a torque dip on idle and while driving on lower gears. Then after two days, I was going to make a left so the car was in idle and it suddenly turned of on me. (it wasn't my fault) it was like the idle issue, only that it didn't not bounce up again, it turned off. Then when I turned the car on, the check engine light was on. so I went home and took the intake off. Now that I have the stock intake on, my car dosent feel the same... Is it my imagination? Or did I mess something up in my car :( ( I just hit 7000 miles today)

you mentioned the "idle issue" does your currently have that prob? i just had mine reprogrammed by the dealer and its a huge difference, because it would always bounce at idle with the AC on and would almost shut off on me

Only when I turn the car on for the first time it dips once but its not bad so I havnt really cared. But with the intake on, it was bad. Now that the intake is off, it idles like before.

Mine does the initial idle dip too, but I assumed that was normal.. am I wrong?

Very odd, I've had my Injen intake on for the past 600 miles and haven't had a single problem with it.

Since we both have it, I think its normal

Yup, that's exactly what happened with mine :/

Is this a big issue or rare? I just ordered the intake... mine has always had the goofy idle stock... I just don't want to hurt the engine or warranty (does installing this void it? hope not)

Reset your battery/ecu on any modification, if you have not done so yet. Disconnect the negative terminal for 5 mins and then re-attach.

We have had the Injen on both of our shop FRS cars and had zero issues on 91 octane.

That's dangerous, glad my car doesn't do that. This girl i knows fiesta would do that on the freeway when slowing down for traffic

Hopefully it works fine after resetting your ECU, but yeah it seems like this intake is a hit or miss for people.

I had the same issue... Went back to stock and throttle response returned. Some people had no problem at all though, so I assume that some intakes are defective. I can't imagine it being an inconsistency with the car itself, but I really have no idea.

Be sure to reset your ecu so it can reprogram itself, although some people said it was unecessary as it is always "learning", but I don't know. My car would seem to run better and better with the Injen(after resetting the ecu), start running almost perfect(but never as consistent or responsive as stock), then for some reason it would start to get CEL and idle issues. I have an entire thread of my trials and tribulations(mainly just tribulations, lol), as someone posted above... http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...problem&page=2

Mine has been working great for about 400 miles on an A/T. Bob @Drift-Office said he has done testing on two different Injen intakes, one showed gains and one caused bogging. He should be coming out with the article in the near future. (Hopefully that wasn't confidential, though its no secret)
