Tire size for 18x8 wheels?225/40 or 245/35

I'm pretty set on buying some wheels that 18x8(TSW nurburgring or Motegi sp10) but the only problem is I don't which tire size to go with. 235/35 would prob be ideal but tire choice is limited so I see everyone going with 225/40. I've also seen a few people go with 245/35. So does anyone know which would provide greater handling, are there any clearance issues(rubbing) at stock height or dropped, how will it affect the speedo reading.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Why not just go with 225/40? They are ideal for 8" and pretty close to stock tyre diameter.

My sti stock 17x8 bbs wheels came with 225 potenzas, however some no name brand 235 tires seems to be narrower than the potenzas. So check the actual tires before you buy them

245/35 has a smaller sidewall than 225/40. 225/40 is recommended for an 8" wheel, also the side wall will be flat with the wheel.

Already with good 225/40 rubber you'll feel HUGE difference vs. stock. I am just stunned with the difference after installing 18" OZ Ultraleggeras with Dunlop Sport Maxx ST today. Just 1 word - GRIP!!!

I think 245/35 is definetely too much at least for the front. Did you think about 225 on the front and 245 on the rear axle?

Go 18x8.5 245/35

or 18x8.0 225/40
