Report: Production FT-86 to arrive by end of year at 2011 Tokyo Motor Show

Quote:

According to Japan’s Best Car magazine, the production version of the Toyota FT-86 will arrive by the end of the year, at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show in December. Still, nobody knows what will be the total output delivered by this car, but we do know that the FT-86 will be powered by a 2.0-liter petrol unit and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

According to Toyota, this engine will deliver a lively, accessible performance and enhanced driving pleasure. Regarding the design, the new car will be very close to the FT-86 II Concept, which is inspired by the great Toyota cars of the past, starting with the legendary 2000 GT in the 1960s. In the concept form, the FT-86 II Concept measures 4,235mm long, 1,795mm wide and 1,270mm high, with a long, 2,570mm wheelbase.

Great news! I wonder what 50%-70% will actually be in the production version.

Smells like a rumor.
I dunno :iono: but isn't Dec an odd month for a release? Especially since it was just displayed as an intermediate concept.

If the car is coming out early next year it makes no sense to show us in December IMO. I have a feeling if that's is the case this car will come out late 2012 as a 2013.

You think so? It's possible show the final ver in Dec and in Jan/Feb they release it as 2012 ver.

they should be releasing this car in december...hell oct-nov should be the release

NESW20 03-21-2011 10:28 PM

if they want to generate enough interest by the end of the year or early next year, we'll need specs and final production sheet metal and such by mid/late summer.

It's possible, if they show semi-final production w full spec & price in NYIAS. I'm not expecting much... but just saying

It's from Best Car. They've spread so many false rumors on this car that I wouldn't trust their magazine to wipe my ass well, let alone get reliable info on any car.
