1000 mile break in service for BRZ?
I know some BMWs have a break in service after the car is broken in. Is it the same for the BRZ? I couldn't find anything in the manual.

Dealer put an annoying service reminder sticker on my FR-S in the window, says 8000km's, so I'd say no...
|
I wouldn't think so, but feel free to correct me anyone...
And you're right, it would be nice to have a complimentary break-in service like the current e9x M3 has at the 1,200 mile mark... I believe BMW changes out the transmission, differential, and engine oils at that time... |
I changed my motor oil at 1000miles. Makes sense to me to get the metal crap out of the engine prior to pushing it past 4k rpm

I'm about to hit 3000mi. I'll change oil then, but no, nothing official.

I asked the archive manager at my dealer and he said that there was no scheduled device before 3750/7500 miles in subaru's system.

I'm at the dealership right now waiting for the 1k service on my FR-S. It appears to only be a simple visual inspection. No oil change involved.

I have a PM routine I do on every new car I buy. As soon as I get it home , I :
1. Change the oil & filter. I use a clean pan to catch the oil and look for contaminants. I also cut open the filter and inspect it. 2. Check ALL fluid levels. 3. Check tire pressures. 4. Remove the wheels. Wash, dry, and wax them inside and out. 5. Remove any screws or bolts holding the brake rotor to the hub, apply anti-seize, and reinstall. 6. Apply anti-seize to the lugs, install the wheels, and torque them to spec. 7. Remove spark plugs, apply anti-seize to the threads, apply SMALL amount of dielectric grease to the insulators, and reinstall. 8. Hard wire my radar detector. 9. Spray the upholstery with Scotchguard or similar. 10. Install any "dealer accessories" like self dimming mirrors, floormats, trunk mats, etc. 11. Wash and wax the car if the build date indicates the car is more than six weeks old. If it is newer than that, I wait for a month or so for the paint to cure. Then, I drive and enjoy the car. At 500 miles, I change the oil and filter. At 1000 miles, I change the oil and filter. After that, I change the oil and filter every 2,500-3,000 miles. |
