Engine Longevity?

I wonder how long these motors last. I use my twin as a daily driver and usually keep my cars long long time......like at least 200k?

Since it's paid for now and still has some warranty left I wonder if it's time to trade.

I love driving this car but I am a worry wart about engine failure..speshully since this motor revs so high (my driving habits for this car).

I wonder if I should buy an old man/woman car like a Honda Accord V6 Coupe.

Maintenance is key!! If you take care of your car it will take care of you. I drive this piss out of my car and I have had 0 issues in the last 3 years or so.

If its not abused or has a turbo I believe it will last a very long time.

if you stay on this forum too long you'll begin to get the notion that these motors are ticking time bombs....

lol exactly. this forum is only a small sample of the people driving this car and tends to show more of the negative than positive (when it comes to the drivetrain at least). shit happens, enjoy the car as it is. any car can have a failure at any point. all you can do is maintain it properly and odds are, you will be just fine.

Yeah but how many FA20's are out there with no issues that never get posted about vs the few that are posted about on here with blown engines?

ToySub1946 11-21-2015 11:16 AM

Buy a Honda with a four cylinder engine. Better bang for the buck than the V-6. Surely will last longer with fewer repairs than the V-6.

And never buy a Honda with an auto trans...historically their weakest link for sure.

LOLS2K 11-21-2015 11:17 AM

It won't last no where near 200k. Probably more like 65k, tops.

THAT is the billion dollar question....

go_a_way1 11-21-2015 11:23 AM

@Tcoat you drive a hell of a lot, will you keep us posted on how many miles you hit before she dies?

Ashikabi 11-21-2015 11:42 AM

I have no concern about engine longevity. Take care of it and it'll be fine. The Japanese companies all have pretty good reputations for building good motors

Cal3000 11-21-2015 11:43 AM

These engines can easily make it past 300k miles with proper maintenance.
Most of the blown engines were boosted
