2020 gets new HU w/ Android auto, carplay

Should be plug&play.

I hope it's PnP with a 2013 FR-S. As much as I like the 2016 HU I installed, the UI is clunky.

Meh cheaper to go with aftermarket + crutchfield wire harness combo. Plug and play on my 2013. Only lost the AUX connector and HD radio(suxed from factory anyways)

200mm android auto units with a 7 inch display aren't exactly cheap if you want to stay away from the dubious Chinese brands. Oe unit would retain everything and fit the dash perfectly without the abject 2din filler plates. Bought new straight from the parts counter it might be a stretch, but a used one a year from now should be a good proposition.

I got a Sony AX5000 from crutchfield with the harness premade for ~$380, truly plug and play in my 2013. I bet the the stock 2020 radio will be significantly more than that.

Got my boss unit for about 300 with the plug and play harnesses so no splicing stock harness

Yeah, and the current T10087 seems to go for around 200 USD on the used/recycler market.

Even if the 2020 is 400 used, that's a good deal for an OEM 200mm flush fit android/CarPlay unit that's still likely made by pioneer.

That’s also if it’s plug and play. That’s a big if.

Not really, the only change to the car was 17 when they added steering controls and a backup cam. And it's not like those have changed.

As far as I knew, the 17+ OEM radio is not compatible with the 13-16 cars.

In 2019 or 2018 (someone can verify the year for me) they also moved the backup camera to the rear view mirror. I wonder how that plays out with the new head units and the 2017 cars with the back up camera still in the headunit.

I have the same question since I have a 2017 with the camera view in the head unit. It might be nice to get the new head unit with CarPlay, but not sure if the back up camera will display in it for me. My mirror is not capable of it.

It's too simple, it's just one rca video wire input.

It seems like supporting hands-free phone call.
But Why did not install steering wheel control buttons for phone call? BRZ already had it.
