San Jose to Los Angeles trip: 101S to 1S to 101S
So I wanted to take an unconventional route to L.A. this weekend. I understand this will make the drive longer, yet it will also be way more scenic and refreshing, which is kind of why I want to do it. Below are some questions I have.

Made that trip many times. Beautiful drive. Leave as early as you can, Santa Cruz to San Luis Obispo is 4-5 hours and San Luis to LA about 3 hours. Figure San Jose to Santa Cruz about 45 minutes (Hwy 17 is a blast to drive). Rush hour in LA starts all day on Friday:)

Big Sur is stunning -- love that drive. About half way down is a restaurant, Nepenthe, where the food is good and the view to die for. Good place for lunch, if it's the right time. I'd leave as early as possible so you have some time to stop now and then.
