On this episode of The Downshift, Automobile Magazine's Jason Cammisa takes Subaru's new BRZ to the Isle of Man. With no speed limits and some of the craziest racing roads in the world, the Isle of Man is home to one of the world's deadliest motorcycle events - the Isle of Man TT. Jason tours the treacherous race route in the new Subaru BRZ, then rides along with WRC Champion Mark Higgins for some full-speed runs in a rally prepped BRZ.

Is RWD enough for the rally racing?

not if you're racing against AWD cars. but there are rally events that have separate classes for all kinds of cars - AWD, FF, FR.

For instance actor Eric Bana raced in the Targa Tasmania in an old Ford XB Falcon - an FR Austrialian muscle car basically. If you haven't seen it before check out the documentary Love the Beast, about Bana and his car, it's a good flick.

It is the mecca for people to die happily in their motor vehicles. Great short vid!

This is a valid question. We've seen widebodies and V8 and 2JZ swaps into this car already. There's also the infamous Fensport Celica which got converted from FF to AWD. But I doubt it's AWD in this video because, otherwise, they would have mentioned it.

yes, if they have converted to AWD, they will mention it.

How much of weight will be increased if converted to AWD?
