Toyota FR-S : Official Name for the FT-86 Concept?
Toyota FR-S: Official Name for the FT-86 Concept?
Wednesday June 16 2010 | By Colum Wood http://www.autoguide.com/gallery/gal...ft86-hero-.jpg The biggest question surrounding Toyota’s awesome FT-86 concept isn’t if the car will make it to production, but what it will be called. That mystery may have just been solved, with word that Toyota Motor Corporation has just filed a trademark for the “FR-S” name in both the U.S. and Canada. The name certainly makes a lot of sense, with “FR” standing for front-engine, rear-wheel drive, while the “S” presumably being used to indicate that this is in fact a sports car. Like the FT-86 Concept’s name, it’s also a throwback to the Corolla AE-86 that inspired it. Source: My.is Quote:

First MR & MR-S and now, FR-S? I guess, Toyota love Engine & Tranny layout in their name
Again, it doesn't matter what's the name of this car gonna be. If they name this car Toyota *** & made it damn good fun car, I'll still buy it. |
I like it, the name has purpose and it dosnt sound weak. I wonder how much truth there is to this and if it is actually for it....
Also wonder if the name will be the same world wide or different in each market hhhmmmmmmmm???????????? |
Thats not very original. But whatever, could be worse.
|
love it! reminds me of my RSX-S
|
hey, this is the first rumor since the G's concept came out that even halfway makes sense! so, um, we've got that going for us.
|
Why the "S" if it's not gonna be a Spyder?

I'll still buy a *** Rocket Special lol. It's just got that look / feel to it. well, maybe not a feel, but it looks like it has a feel to it lol.

it's meh, but really im not gonna be driving a name around so who cares.

If this is indeed the 'intended' name for the car, then would this reflect the fact that Toyota will be giving us new tid bits (not really give us, someone had to stalk their trademark activities) about the car that we have been worshiping ever since Oct of 2009. Or does this mean that Toyota will give news once every eight months.
Anyways I'm fine with the name. Good Job Toyota! |
