Was driving behind a silver 86 on the N1 South before Marlboro this morning. Anyone here?

brian_c_m 11-20-2012 04:28 AM

Nope, not I. I have silver and was heading south but nowhere near Marlboro. I hardly ever see another 86 on the roads :(

sav 11-20-2012 04:44 AM

Same here, I was surprised when this one didn't even wave back.

Vic_RSA 11-20-2012 06:55 AM

I think I have seen the same one driving down Sylvia's Pass in the morning - the driver does not wave...

Silver Standard model?

Only saw it from behind so I'm not sure if std or high. Regisatration was CC ** ** GP

I wonder why he's so grumpy?

Vic_RSA 11-20-2012 07:25 AM

In the presence of other 86's, his car isn't as exclusive... Or he has chronic piles and in that case definitely bought the wrong kind of car! LOL!

sav 11-20-2012 07:39 AM

Haha! Well screw grumpiness, I wave every time I see another 86.

Vic_RSA 11-20-2012 08:04 AM

Same as when I drive my Mini's - we always acknowledge the others - no matter how tired they look.

Is this becoming a royalty thing??? "The 86 wave". :scared0016:

sav 11-20-2012 08:47 AM

Haha, no it was the same with the ST's when there weren't as many around - everybody was friendly and waving at each other.

Vic_RSA 11-20-2012 09:45 AM

I reckon we'll be exclusive for a long time - limited stock and most will be written off sadly by joy riders attempting to drift. Once watched a youngster pushing a Lumina - still couldn't get it to slide despite severe provocation. The 86 isn't as forgiving... My traction control stays on!

sav 11-20-2012 09:48 AM

Yep, 800 for 2012 and 58/month after that.

How is it possible to NOT get a Lumina sideways? My 86 has forgiven me on a couple of occasions but then I'm not expecting it to handle like a FWD car so I guess that's the secret.

Vic_RSA 11-20-2012 02:11 PM

I love scaring my passenger(s) in an underground parking lot - turn in quickly and kick the throttle on a smooth concrete surface... I think the traction control noises are more frightening than the weight transfer.

I used to use the handbrake on my RXI to do the same - 45 degrees sideways at least between concrete pillars... The Mini is a whole other ballgame altogether... :)))

Anyone seen any Blue High Spec manuals around??? My dealer told me this spec was extremely rare and they were only like 3 in SA?
