I just go out usually after 1-2 laps are completed so I don't have to point by 19 GT3RS, 8 GT3, 4 radicals and a couple Z06s when I drive the FRS in adv lol There's always 2-3 other slow cars to play with at least.

Definitely the wrong run group.

SV typically will have a big bore and small bore advanced group, to accommodate different methods of achieving similar lap times.

I'd rather have less groups and more track time per day. And in Chin red, at least over here, passing is never an issue (in either passing or being passed).

If it was a group like PCA with far more cars and shittier quality track time/lower average driver quality though I'd support such a system lol

I can't say the day wasn't packed as far as sessions (because it was) , but I also don't think its up to the organization hosting the track day to micro manage drivers on the track just so they can get "clean" laps either.

If a track day driver can't figure out that they might need to sandbag it a bit to create some space for their flying lap based on what the overall traffic is doing then it's probably not the orgs fault.

There have been instance where my times have slotted me behind someone that wasn't renting a transponder; was I a bit confused, yes, but at the same time this isn't a competition. Hang back, see their line, if you are legit driving a fast pace than them then whats the problem if you pass them (within the rules of the org) in the Advance and Intermediate session, at least you possibly learned another line for the future, at most you create a gap and set up your flying lap.

I'm not saying its ok to overbook a track day, but after a certain point you have to manage your track time a bit since you paid for it.

TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read)
23 Car in my Run Group that day. Was girded towards the middle. Spacing yourself is possible friends.

Agreed. Of course I don't care about settings PBs or anything anyways, just having fun and dealing with traffic is fun most of the time.

Also, 23 cars doesn't seem bad at all. I've seen groups of 50+ cars at PCA events. Obviously track length dependent but still..

Not horrible but the wait time is a bit much. But Im used to open wheel cars on the weekends and 20 minutes in one of those is a lot different than 20 minutes in a street car. A lot more of a workout and more G forces.

I did a day with NASA at NJMSP Lightening track. It sucked. If I remember correctly, there were four HPDE, one TT, one instructors’, and two racing groups. Was supposed to get four 20 mins sessions, got maybe 35 mins total. Every session after the first one ran late. Every race session caused 5-15min delays. Got there at 7am, left at 7pm. Never again.
