If it was a coil or fuel issue it should throw a misfire cel. This is not happening so I would look at the tune and make sure. If you have a old tune that's for FI try it and see if it changes

I disagree we had two cat motors in heavy machinery have the rubber fail in the harmonic balancers and beat the main bearing out of them and cat warrantied both motors. They were stock engines.

if the guy putting on your turbo kit says you need a new engine management find a new guy to do your install of your turbo kit. its as easy as bolt on kit flash a tune and go.
