I think wheel width allowance would depend on spring/coilover allowance. IIRC, fitment of 9" wheels would be limited with stock size springs. Maybe if stock or stock-ish springs only allow up to 7.5"...

In Street class you can only vary the wheel offset by +7mm. So +41 would be the widest you could go.

I would also recommend 225/45-17 as it has good feel and communicates very well to the driver....
