The Pacific Northwest members of FT86CLUB recently held their first meet. With a large meet usually comes a large photo set, which DarrenDriven has posted for us to enjoy.

The short list for the 2012 North American Car of the Year was announced today. Surprising that both the FR-S and BRZ were named to the list as separate entries, but perhaps not, given the adulation both cars have received from the automotive press.

Check out the full list of finalists inside. How do you think the FR-S/BRZ’s stacks up against its competition for this title?

Not to be outdone by their SoCal counterparts for large meets, our Toronto area members gathered for a large BRZ/FR-S meet of their own, resulting in about 25 cars making the trip out. Check out some photos inside.

Check out Clarkson’s latest review on the GT86, from the Sunday Times. This following quote sums it all up:

It’s strange. We thought purpose-designed coupés had gone. We thought wayward handling had gone. And we sure as hell thought genuinely good value had gone. But all three things are now back in one astonishing car. Perhaps the most interesting car to be launched since the original Mazda MX-5. I’m giving it five stars only because it’s not possible to hand out more.

Subaru has a bit of a nice surprise for BRZ fans at the 2012 Paris Auto Show in the form of the BRZ XT Line Concept car [photos inside].

No specs or details have been released for this hopped up specially badged BRZ yet, but if the XT badge is any indication, it may hint at a BRZ with AWD and turbo engine (the Subaru XT was a small coupe from the ’80s that offered all-wheel drive and a turbo engine).

Outwardly, one sees a carbon fiber (or CF look) roof, trunk spoiler and mirror caps, black wheels with red calipers, and XT Line Concept badges. The interior features red leather seats with XT logos and some CF trims throughout.

Car and Driver pits the FR-S against one of the most acclaimed drivers cars currently available – the Porsche Cayman S, in a comparison featuring cars they say are uncannily similar in many ways except for one – PRICE.

Find out INSIDE what which car they deem as the smarter money spent.

Gran Turismo 5 gets three new cars next Tuesday, September 25th and one of those includes the Subaru BRZ! Now you can race your identical BRZ twins and fraternal FR-S twins in some head to head racing.
